2020 Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM

November 2, 2020

Last week Diana Chan, Chair of the Whistler Chamber’s Board of Directors and CEO, Melissa Pace, attended the two-day virtual Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM and policy sessions. A record number of 825 attendees joined from all across the country. 60 policy resolutions from across the national chamber network were submitted and debated from 33 different chambers, boards of trade and six Canadian Chamber policy committees. BC was well represented with 125 delegates from 41 regional chambers and boards of trade, with 17 resolutions submitted by BC chambers.

Over these two days, our network came together from across the country with the overarching goal of mitigating the impact of the pandemic on our economy, our communities and each other. Because we are in this together, we believe our continued collaboration will drive Canada’s economic recovery through 2021 and beyond.

One of the important messages of the conference was that of collaboration – whether between levels of governments, between businesses between chambers. The pandemic has made us all work more closely together to achieve results on behalf of businesses, large and small, here in Whistler and right across Canada. For the first time ever, we are able to share with you the sessions that were part of the conference. From a fireside chat with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, to a conversation with the leader of the official opposition, as well as a panel on C19 testing and much more.

Our Members play an important role in helping us to Make Business Better, by particpating in our surveys, and joining us at virtual events such as Advocacy in Action Member Input Sessions, which are designed for our Members to let us know where to take action.
