Brady Smith is a longtime Whistler resident who shares the passion for the many attributes Whistler offers. In his 17 years living in the resort municipality, Brady has focused his attention to business growth in the not for profit sector, and is the Executive Director of the Whistler Aboriginal Museum, Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (the “SLCC”). Brady’s past work experience includes Manager of Accommodation (Whistler) for the Vancouver Organizing Committee, and Whistler Sport Legacies Society as Manager of Business Development.
As the Executive Director of The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, Brady strives to uphold the spirit of partnership between two unique Nations who wish to preserve, grow and share their traditional cultures. This vision aligns with that of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce to nurture partnerships through innovative alliances, training and mentorship and strategic planning.
Brady’s ability to grow revenues while maintaining the integrity of the organizations mission is by strengthening community relationships, and taking risks to capture as much business as possible.
Sitting on a board of directors for the Whistler Chamber of Commerce will be a role that I do not take lightly.
I can provide both culturally and business specific perspectives whilst acting and representing the Whistler Chamber of commerce with non-biased opinions and educated responses.
Representing the local First Nations members through advocacy of the SLCC. I understand the responsibility to advocate for human rights, First Nations rights, and the strong movement forward for Truth and Reconciliation and a higher understanding for the general public. In particular, increasing First Nations’ culture through tourism, as well as building capacity in the Lil’wat and Squamish community members are core to my personal goals.
Sincerely,
Brady Smith
