Grant Writing with Granted Consulting

This week the Whistler Chamber held a virtual Lunch + Learn: Grant Writing Workshop with Granted Consulting presented by Hummingbird Smart Services, in partnership with Indigenous Life Sport Academy. We were joined by guest speaker Stephanie Sang and a small group of Members.

Stephanie is CEO of Granted Consulting, and is known as a ‘Grant Angel’ in Western Canada. She is passionate about working with entrepreneurs in all industries on developing grant strategies for growth. Since 2011, Granted has supported 800+ clients and generated nearly $35 MM in grant funding at a success rate of 92%. Over the last few years, Stephanie has been invited to speak at events hosted by the both provincial and national venues to educate entrepreneurs about grants in Canada. In 2019, she launched GetGranted, an online portal that matches grants to businesses, provides best practices, tracks grant progress, and is the reliable grant solution for small businesses in Western Canada. We are very grateful to have had Stephanie’s expertise during our September 23 workshop.

The online workshop outlined best practices when preparing for upcoming funding programs and discussed how to develop an effective grant strategy for a business. It included in-class activities where the group reviewed grants together, giving practical experience of researching, identifying, and assessing the right programs for a business. The group also looked at case studies of how other businesses and organizations have leveraged grants for growth.

Special guest Court Larabee, Executive Director of Indigenous Life Sport Academy, spoke about his experience in applying for different grants geared to support Indigenous communities, as well as the verbiage that can be used to heighten an application from good to great!
